SYNOPSIS
A delivery rider obsessed with electronic music struggles to finish a track he is happy with. Sealed off from the city by his noise-cancelling headphones, he follows a mysterious order to an abandoned tunnel on its outskirts. As reality and imagination intertwine, he discovers another way of listening to the world. A short film about creativity, inspiration and chance, AFTER SONGS explores how sound can transform our perception of everyday life.
DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
After Songs began with the simple act of taking off my headphones. I had grown used to shutting out the city with electronic music. When traffic, footsteps and voices returned, everyday life suddenly felt full of unexpected drama. I began to imagine what might happen when a creator, enclosed in his own musical world, hears the world outside again.
The first film made by my studio, it was also a smartphone filmmaking collaboration with HUAWEI. Working with a phone let me move freely through the city and capture unplanned moments. Those accidents echoed the protagonist’s search for inspiration, encouraging me to loosen my expectations and let reality enter the film.
